ROABA ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT, LLB GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
As some of you might know, ROABA applied for and received a grant last year from the federal government’s Indigenous Natural Resources Program. Our application was to fund the creation of a smartphone app and website to give our industry partners accessible, just-in-time information about Aboriginal-owned businesses in the region.
Since January this year, we have been working with consultants to develop the APP and website. In fact, the ROABA app is already available to download on the Google Play store for Android users and will be available for iPhone users very soon. Each of you should have received a handout about the project at the registration desk. I encourage all of you to download the app as soon as possible. We’ll send an email as soon as the app is available in the iPhone app store.
The ROABA Directory APP and Website will allow our members to describe their resources, list their safety tickets, upload photos, and provide any other information necessary to Industry looking for aboriginal businesses in the area.
Industry partners will be able to locate Aboriginal businesses within a given area or proximity to a project. They will also have the option to locate projects and related information on the ROABA map.
Besides increasing the awareness of Aboriginal-owned businesses, the project will assist our organization by increasing revenue through increased membership and advertising.
Over the next few months, the app and website will continue to evolve as we find ways to make it work better. We’re excited about the future and the potential that this project will provide. Let us know if you have any questions or feedback.
